The inauguration of Weizixia's "Solar Calendar Chronometer Square" with dances, speeches, salute guns and lots of decoration - all of which would disappear quickly after the ceremonies, including (where did they go?) most of the Chinese amateur groups. The place would then largely be "in the hands" of eclipse travellers from much farther away.
The Square contains several sun dials and other large installations one can walk on, a lecture hall, two exhibition rooms and three domes: two with telescopes (at least one would later be used for the eclipse) and the big one with a mini-planetarium, not open but briefly seen by a visitor the day before.
